Job Title: Senior Power BI Developer

Location: Cary, NC
Duration: 6+ Months (Contract)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Power BI Developer to join our team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level Power BI reports and dashboards, as well as managing Power BI solutions across the organization. The ideal candidate will ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency while driving the delivery of new Power BI initiatives.

The candidate must be highly skilled, professional, and capable of working independently, making decisions with limited information, and consistently meeting project timelines and deliverables to achieve the best business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models following coding standards and best practices
• Create and maintain version control for databases and dashboards to ensure consistency and accuracy across reports and data sources
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT teams to understand business needs, data sources, and reporting requirements
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver solutions that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations
• Debug and optimize new and existing Power BI solutions to improve performance and ensure data accuracy
• Develop and maintain documentation to standardize reports across the IT organization and align them with business objectives
• Take ownership of the Power BI platform, including roadmap planning, report development, and publishing in partnership with the business
• Manage Power BI security, access, and licensing for online services
• Design and maintain a unified database system to support enterprise reporting, including row-level security based on roles and responsibilities using dataflows and data marts
• Track Power BI service usage, forecast future utilization, and manage data models to stay within licensing capacity and avoid additional costs
• Proactively monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement
• Stay current with the latest Power BI features and industry trends, applying new capabilities to enhance existing solutions
• Create intuitive user interfaces and strong user experiences through effective data visualization and report formatting

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field
• 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience
• 5 8+ years of Microsoft T-SQL development experience
• Strong knowledge of DAX (highly preferred)
• Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and data integration
• Excellent leadership, time management, and organizational skills
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Consulting or staffing industry experience is a plus
• Proven creative and analytical problem-solving skills
• Relevant certifications preferred (Azure Data/Analytics, Microsoft Power BI, SQL Management Studio, Snowflake)
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps for version control and task/bug tracking
