What To Expect
The Technical Project Manager role at Tesla involves driving hardware development by managing the execution of new hardware projects, validation, industrialization, and design improvements. This position supports the Engineering team by organizing and tracking schedules and metrics for active hardware projects, acting as the central owner for specific hardware subsystems. The TPM collaborates with Global Sourcing, Supplier Industrialization, and Tesla suppliers to meet production demands and resolve risks to schedules, while also working with cross-functional teams like Design Studio, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, NPI, Production, and Service to establish program cadence and ensure successful global implementation across Tesla factories in Fremont, Texas, Shanghai, and Berlin. Requiring strong technical skills, the TPM engages in technical reviews, testing, and validation planning, with a working understanding of design, manufacturing, assembly, and associated risks. The role focuses on overseeing the launch of new designs and technologies, particularly for Audio, Antenna, and/or Radio systems from concept to mass production, defining workflows, timelines, risk assessments, and mitigation plans, while fostering collaboration, driving technical excellence, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing efficient solutions to meet business objectives.

Develop and maintain an interactive product development timeline that shows the details of the development and overlaps supplier and company milestonesDevelop and maintain a progress tracker that details and accounts for the variety of development tasks needed during a product lifecycleSupplier task management: document project tasks, workflow, priorities, and timing of eachInternal Team task management: document project tasks, workflow, priorities and timing of eachWork with multiple cross functional teams on the development of multiple products, including: Reliability, Supply Chain, Quality, Industrialization, Manufacturing, Design, and other engineering teamsCoordinate design changes with cross-functional teams and support their cut-in into productionMaintain our Product Lifecycle Management system with the latest part numbers, BOMs, assemblies, CAD, drawings, and specificationsMeet with fellow Project Management team members to address Program concerns, keeping team up to date on issuesProactively identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies

What You'll Bring

Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience 5+ years’ experience in product development, ideally with multiple delivered products in a medium to high volume industryExpertise in project management tools (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and methodologiesFamiliarity with mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and software development processExperience in planning activities and vendor management in an engineering environmentDemonstrated ability to understand complex development projects and identify critical elementsProactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented, with strong technical communication abilityAbility to work cross functionally between engineering, production, and supply chain personnelStrong knowledge of Jira or an equivalent Project Tracking Software SystemBackground in Infotainment Audio, Radio and/or Antenna product development

Expected Compensation

$100,000 - $216,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
