We are representing a rapidly growing, modern tax advisory firm focused on tax planning for 1099 physicians. The firm provides clients with comprehensive tax planning and full-service accounting, supported by a structured team-based service model.
The Tax Supervisor will oversee a team responsible for delivering that full scope of services, with a significant portion of the role focused on tax return production, tax planning, and client advisory work. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, effective with internal staff, and excels as a client-facing advisor.
About the Role
We are looking for a Tax Supervisor to lead a team responsible for bookkeeping oversight, S-Corp owner payroll, tax return preparation, and ongoing tax planning for a defined group of clients.
This role combines technical tax review, client advisory, and team leadership. The Tax Supervisor will lead planning sessions, oversee return production workflows, and serve as the primary advisor for the pod’s client relationships.
Oversee a pod responsible for tax return preparation, tax planning, S-Corp owner payroll, and light bookkeeping oversight for an assigned group of business clients.
Serve as the main point of contact for clients within the pod, addressing advisory questions and providing strategic tax guidance.
Lead and conduct tax planning sessions that are built into each client engagement.
Manage the entire tax return production workflow, ensuring accurate and timely preparation throughout the year.
Review tax returns (attached 1040, 1120-S, 1065) and handle preparatory input on more complex or high-judgment returns as needed.
Perform quarterly bookkeeping reviews completed by internal staff to ensure accuracy and tax-readiness.
Provide oversight and guidance to payroll clerks and tax preparers within the pod, supporting their work and helping maintain standards.
CPA license required.
4+ years of tax experience in an accounting environment.
Strong client-facing skills; able to confidently advise high-earning professionals and lead tax planning discussions.
Experience reviewing S-Corp, 1040, and 1065 returns.
Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop tax preparers and support staff.
Interest in accounting fundamentals; role includes periodic review of financials and oversight of recurring S-Corp workflows.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
