Job Title: Senior QA Analyst
Location: Remote (U.S.-based; Central Time preferred)
Duration: 6-Month Contract
This role provides experienced, hands-on Quality Assurance support for application development and enhancement initiatives. The Senior QA Analyst is expected to work independently, apply strong QA judgment, and execute testing activities with minimal oversight. The position involves exploratory testing, creation and maintenance of QA documentation, and contributing to improved testing practices across environments with varying levels of QA maturity.
The ideal candidate demonstrates ownership of QA activities end-to-end and is comfortable operating in documentation-heavy, process-driven environments.
ResponsibilitiesPerform hands-on manual testing of software applications
Create, execute, and maintain test cases and test scenarios
Conduct thorough exploratory testing to uncover defects and risk areas
Develop and contribute to test plans and master test plans
Document and track defects clearly and effectively
Identify risk areas and adjust testing depth and focus accordingly
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile/SDLC environments
Provide informal guidance and mentorship to junior or less-experienced QA team members
Adapt to environments where QA processes may not be fully established
Proven experience performing hands-on QA testing for software applications
Strong understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, and Agile testing practices
Experience creating test cases, executing tests, and performing exploratory testing
Ability to develop or contribute to test plans and QA documentation
Demonstrated ability to assess risk and prioritize testing efforts
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Comfortable operating in evolving or low-maturity QA environments
Experience with test automation tools or frameworks
Familiarity with accessibility testing standards (WCAG)
Experience supporting enterprise-scale or public-sector systems
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or automated test execution
Senior-level QA professional with extensive hands-on experience
Strong manual testing background
Proven ability to own QA processes end-to-end
Experienced in Agile and SDLC-based delivery models
Skilled in producing high-quality QA documentation, including:
Test plans and master test plans
Test cases and test scripts
Defect and test execution reports
Strong exploratory testing mindset
Excellent written communication skills, suited for regulated or documentation-heavy environments
