Job Title: Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery
Location: Ithaca, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks (Extendable)
Shift: 3x12-Hour Nights
Pay Rate: $2,770 (Weekly Gross)
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide patient-centered maternity care, ensuring safety, comfort, and support throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum process.
Responsibilities:
Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to laboring mothers and newborns.
Support the labor and birth process, including fetal monitoring, vital signs assessment, and documentation.
Identify and report changes in maternal or fetal status promptly to the care team.
Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries while maintaining a sterile field.
Provide postpartum care including fundal assessments, monitoring, and patient education.
Educate new mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
Promote newborn safety and assist with feeding and infection prevention practices.
Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and lactation consultants to deliver comprehensive maternal-newborn care.
Participate in professional development, unit-based training, and mentorship.
Maintain thorough and timely documentation per hospital and regulatory standards.
Adhere to professional nursing standards ensuring patient dignity, privacy, and safety.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience.
Postpartum experience required.
Experience with Epic or similar EMR systems preferred.
Certifications:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing required (BSN preferred).
