JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Principal Embedded Engine Controls Engineer at Mercury Marine, you will design sophisticated engine and vessel control systems. These systems can be found on small boats that are equipped with 15Hp engines all the way up to multi-engine, multi-helm yachts that are the world"s finest.

Essential Functions:
- Interact with design teams for project and product feature definition.
- Participate in design meetings and prepare requirements and design specifications.
- Design, write code, and complete programming according to specifications.
- Identify, analyze and resolve complex software/Hardware issues.
- Make recommendations and suggest alternative approaches for development projects.
- Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor"s degree in electrical, Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 8 or more years of embedded controls experience
- Must have a thorough understanding of the following:
- Embedded Software Development
- MatLab
- Simulink (MotoHawk/Raptor experience is a plus)
* C/C++
- CAN bus communications
- Additional working knowledge in the following is also preferred:
- Control Theory
- Understanding of Internal Combustion Engines
- Understanding of Marine vessels and features
- Working knowledge of Vector Tools (CANape, CANalyzer, CANoe)
- Ability to design and build test fixures
Software/Tools Used:
- Simulink
- Matlab
- CAD package experience is NOT required. They do not use it on this team. He refers to their designs more as 'napkin drawings', and the expectation is just that the engineers have enough knowledge to grab stuff and build something that works. It can then be turned off to other teams for CAD.
