Payroll Specialist (contract-to-hire)

Fairfax, VA (hybrid)

Salary: $65-75K

Addison Group's client is searching for a Payroll Specialist on a contract-to-hire basis. This role is hybrid in Fairfax, VA and pays $65-75K upon conversion. Apply here to learn more!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and administer payroll for employees on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, benefits, tax withholdings, and deductions.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Handle payroll-related inquiries from employees regarding pay, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Assist with payroll tax reporting, including quarterly and year-end filings (W-2s, 1099s).
  • Work closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure proper benefits and payroll deductions.
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with audits, reconciliations, and process improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paylocity, UKG).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
