Job Description

As a Nonprofit Human Services Underwriter, you will play a key role in evaluating and managing risks for a variety of nonprofit organizations, including human service agencies, educational institutions, and religious organizations. Your focus will be to ensure the coverage and premiums provided are both adequate and competitive. You will work with a range of accounts, some of which may involve premiums up to $1,000,000.

Key Responsibilities:

- Risk Assessment & Pricing: Evaluate and assess risks, ensuring coverage and premiums are aligned with both market standards and client needs. You'll use available tools and reports to identify any potential risks, providing clear guidance on coverage terms.

- Client & Partner Collaboration: Regularly engage with risk control teams for inspections, follow-ups, and addressing service needs for insured clients. You will proactively manage corrective actions on accounts and ensure timely resolution of any concerns.

- Portfolio Management: You will maintain a balanced and profitable portfolio by working closely with distribution partners, having regular review calls, and addressing market conditions. This includes limited travel to partner offices and ensuring consistent communication on account health.

- Regulatory Compliance & Service Excellence: Ensure that renewals, non-renewals, and other notices are managed within required timelines, meeting both service expectations and regulatory standards.

- Team Development & Mentorship: Support junior staff through mentorship, peer audits, and training. Your guidance will be vital in nurturing talent and ensuring ongoing career development for team members.

- Other Duties as Assigned: Contribute to various tasks and projects as needed to support team and company objectives.

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze information and make timely, informed decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous experience in underwriting nonprofit human services and/or education accounts.
- Progress toward or completion of industry certifications, such as CPCU.

Compensation and Benefits:

- Salary Range: $66,300 - $110,500, based on experience. For candidates in CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, and PA, the salary range is $72,900 - $121,500, plus bonus eligibility.

- Competitive salary with incentive plans for eligible employees.
- 401(K) plan with up to 6% company match on eligible salary.
- Free life and AD&D insurance, long-term disability, and short-term disability coverage.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans to meet your healthcare needs.
- Wellness incentives and a generous time-off program, including personal, holiday, and volunteer paid time off.
- Flexible work options, including hybrid/remote schedules for eligible roles.
- Educational assistance to support your growth and development.

We are excited to offer a dynamic and supportive work environment where your contributions will directly impact the success of our nonprofit clients and their missions.
