Job Summary
We are seeking a Microbiologist to join our Quality Control team, supporting laboratory operations in a manufacturing environment. The role involves routine microbiological testing, accurate documentation of results, and adherence to quality and safety standards. The position requires working with integrated business systems and reference materials to ensure compliance and product integrity.
Key Responsibilities - Follow, update, and review quality control laboratory documentation.
- Perform sampling of facilities and lab areas in accordance with established QC protocols.
- Conduct microbiological testing of raw materials, intermediate, and final products for release to production.
- Release products using the SAP Quality Management module based on internal and external results.
- Interpret and document microbiological test results accurately and promptly.
- Troubleshoot QC testing for non-conforming products.
- Communicate test results to plant staff and management.
- Respond to requests from Operations or Engineering teams, prioritizing tasks efficiently.
- Participate in team meetings to support scheduling and prioritization.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for handling and storing food products.
- Apply HACCP principles and procedures in daily work.
- Follow Good Documentation Practices and Good Laboratory Practices, including aseptic techniques.
- Comply with company policies related to Quality, Safety, Food/Feed Safety, Environmental, GMPs, Dietary Supplements, and HACCP-HARPC.
- Support quality systems including ISO 22000 Food Safety, FAMI-QS, and NSF Dietary Supplements.
- Complete training and perform qualified tasks as outlined in the siteâs Food/Feed Safety Plan.
Required Qualifications - Associate degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Alternatively, 1â2 years of relevant work experience in a microbiology or quality control setting.
- Ability to determine appropriate tests for raw materials and products.
- Skilled in sample preparation, culturing, and examination for microbiological testing.
- Proficient in interpreting and documenting microbiological results.
- Familiarity with current microbiological test methods and microbial identification.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with serial dilutions and microbiological plating techniques.
- Strong communication, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Experience with lab documentation and work instructions.
- Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills in a collaborative environment.
