Performs various tests to obtain data to use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis in areas including bacteriology, hematology, serology, chemistry, and blood banking and makes some morphological examinations. Records laboratory test results and performs any related duties.
Requirements
Individuals must have completed training from an approved school for Medical Technologists, including 12 consecutive months’ training or completion of a 4-year course approved school with a major in one of the Physical Sciences. In addition, they must be a registered member of one of the national agencies ASCP, HEW, NCA, AMT, or an equivalent agency.
