**Job Title:** Medical Billing Specialist

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing procedures, coding, and insurance regulations. This position will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate claim submission, and addressing any discrepancies that arise in a timely manner. At least 2 years of medical billing experience is required. 

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers in accordance with established guidelines.
- Review and verify patient information, insurance coverage, and medical codes to ensure the accuracy of billing.
- Perform coding using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient and/or inpatient procedures to guarantee compliance with insurance standards.
- Resolve billing issues by communicating with healthcare providers, insurers, and patients to rectify discrepancies and ensure timely payment.
- Track and follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and payments, ensuring prompt resolution and appeals when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of billing transactions and patient accounts, while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance billing accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare and present reports on billing activities, account status, and collection metrics to management.
- Stay current with industry standards, coding updates, and payer policies to ensure compliance and optimize revenue cycle processes.

**Qualifications:**

- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in health information technology or a related field preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Medical Billing Specialist (CMBS) or similar credentials is highly desirable.
