Career Development Coordinator

Job summary:

The Career Events and Programs Coordinator will work collaboratively with SuccessWorks staff to design, implement, and continuously enhance career development programs that support student success. This role will develop and manage systems that foster strong partnerships with key stakeholders—including employers, faculty, and campus collaborators—to broaden program reach and increase participation. Additionally, the Coordinator will lead efforts to collect program data and the development of impact reports that highlight key outcomes, emerging trends, and opportunities for growth.

The primary areas of responsibility include:

  • Career Program Development & Student Engagement: Support the design and implementation of student career development programs that foster meaningful engagement and learning. Lead the continuous improvement of programs by evaluating student feedback and outcomes, and recommending enhancements that align with strategic goals and evolving student needs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Systems & Participation Growth: Develop and implement systems that strengthen collaboration with internal and external stakeholders—including employers, faculty, and campus partners—to increase engagement and attendance in career development programs.
  • Program Insights & Impact Reporting: Lead the collection of program data to inform strategic decisions and demonstrate impact. Collaborate on the development of reports that highlight outcomes, trends, and opportunities for improvement across career programs.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Programs and Impact.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Develops and delivers career development programming and resource materials across various mediums to provide education to students
  • Responds to questions and provides information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation
  • May identify and maintain a professional network of employers or other stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and employment opportunities for students
  • Educates or advises students and recent alumni individually or in groups through various mediums about career exploration, self-assessment, skills, materials development, and career decisions
  • Participates in the campus-wide career services community, providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college/unit

SuccessWorks at the College of Letters & Science (L&S) prepares its undergraduates for life-long success through its programs, advising, and courses. SuccessWorks supports over 18,000 L&S students as they explore their interests and aspirations, engage in career exploration and development, and prepare for a career beyond UW-Madison.

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this position is $50,000 up to $60,000 (12-month) for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required qualifications:

  • At least one year of professional experience in event planning and execution, or equivalent graduate or student staff experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Manage multiple projects, programs, and priorities at the same time while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to provide excellent customer service to key stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple departments, units or functional areas.
  • Experience with data entry and maintaining event registration systems.
